Position Description

The Performance Department in The School of Music at DePaul University invites applications for adjunct faculty teaching positions (part-time) in all music performance-related areas, including the following: applied lessons for voice, strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass); woodwinds (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone); brass (trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba); percussion, guitar, piano, harpsichord, and harp; jazz piano, jazz bass, jazz saxophone, jazz trumpet, jazz guitar, and jazz percussion, as well as courses in chamber music, jazz combos; pedagogy for voice, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and piano; orchestral repertoire for strings, woodwinds, brass or percussion; and jazz history.

Qualifications

Required: Master of Music or equivalent professional experience in the subject area to be taught.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until positions are filled. Adjunct teaching opportunities are available throughout the academic year. Applicants with expertise that matches course scheduling needs will be contacted for an interview. Academic course schedules fluctuate from quarter to quarter and the department will work with selected individuals to determine a quarterly schedule. Courses are not guaranteed, but the department does its best to give ample notice about available courses and potential course cancellations.

Considerations

Exceptions to standard rates may apply to courses with unique credit hours, supervision, labs, clinical/practicum courses, coaching, administrative tasks, and courses that are either over-enrolled or under-enrolled.

Salary Information

The anticipated hiring rate of this position is between $4,400 and $6,600 per course, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
