GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Kirkwood Community College welcomes applicants for the position of adjunct instructor to teach in various disciplines at the college throughout the year. Currently we are seeking to receive applications for the following disciplines:
- Finance (this course will be at the Kirkwood Regional Center at the University of Iowa (Coralville) for fall 2026. The section will meet Monday/Wednesday from 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM).
Previous successful college-level teaching preferred. Employment offer is contingent upon satisfactory results on criminal background check and receiving official transcripts.
Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide instruction in discipline.
- Work with other faculty members to develop a course syllabus and consistent assessments.
- Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
- Perform other related work duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
- Abide by and enforce safety rules when in a lab setting.
- Welcome, value, and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a baccalaureate or graduate degree in the area or related area of study or occupational area in which the instructor teaches classes, or possess a baccalaureate degree in any area of study if at least 18 credit hours completed were in the field of instruction in which the instructor teaches classes; OR
- Possess an associate degree in the CTE field of instruction in which the instructor is teaching, if such degree is considered terminal for that field of instruction, and have at least 3,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience in the area taught; OR
- Have special training and at least 6,000 hours of relevant tested work experience in the occupational area (or related area) in which the instructor teaches classes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
- Experience teaching at the college level.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community college.
- Demonstrated success in working collaboratively.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Master’s degree in related field.
