Application Pool Notice
Laredo College continuously accepts applications for part-time (adjunct) instructors to create a pool of candidates for each session/semester. Applications will be reviewed and positions will be filled based on department needs. Applications received for this pool will remain active for one year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide instruction and monitor teaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by the Department coordinator or Director of Continuing Education. Develop curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the competencies addressed in the particular area of Dental Assisting.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop course/program curriculum to address the particular area of instruction via face-to-face, virtual, and hybrid courses
- Prepare tailored course documentation such as lesson plan, course syllabi, assignments, quizzes/exams
- Follow daily lesson plans to ensure quality, consistency, and uniformity of instruction and student conduct
- Adapt to different teaching styles to accommodate to the population and teaching modes such as face-to-face, virtual and hybrid
- Keep accurate attendance records and submit required continuing education class documents on a timely manner
- Provide students with information about the goals and requirements of each course, the nature of the course content and the methods of evaluation to be employed, including required classroom behavior
- Measure each students progress through the use of written exams or performance assessments essential to mastery of unit objectives. Inform students of course progression and provide supplemental materials and/or instruction when necessary
- Be responsible for the efficient and safe operation, care, and appearance of assigned equipment, classroom/lab, and all other teaching materials
- Must be able to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality by following FERPA standards.
- Work a flexible schedule as determined by instructional activities and course enrollment
- Participate in training activities as needed by the department
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Continuing Education, Dean of Community Education, Assistant Provost/Strategic and Collaborative Partnerships, Provost/VP of Academic Affairs, and/or President.
