"Adjunct Instructor - Speech"

Job Summary

Reporting to the campus department instructional leader, adjunct instructors provide assistance to students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate college resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available to complement the teaching and learning process providing a direct impact to student success.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements: Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules and modalities as assigned; Accommodates student needs and external stakeholders' expectations; Prepares and delivers instruction; Communicates regularly with students and college officials; Independently pursues activities to enhance subject matter expertise; Prepares assignments and assessments; Designs and maintains an active classroom environment; Maintains student attendance records; Evaluates student performance; Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback; Assigns grades; Assists in College's commitment to assessing student learning outcomes; Accepts assignments at other sites.

Service Excellence: Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College; Completes required training; Attends the workplace regularly; Adheres to College policies and procedures; Adheres to applicable safety procedures; Performs other related tasks as required.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Speech Communication, Communications, or Master’s degree with eighteen graduate hours in these disciplines from a regionally accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

Work experience in the discipline; Experience teaching or facilitating training; Teaching experience utilizing active learning techniques; Experience teaching in Dual Credit and Early College High School programs; Previous online teaching experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands: Frequently required to sit, use hands, reach, talk or hear; Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, or balance; Occasionally lift up to 10 pounds; Specific vision abilities required.

Work Environment: Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and exposed to risk of electrical shock; Noise level is usually quiet.
