Rank: Appointment level to any faculty position is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Salary: Nine-month position. Competitive salary depending on experience. The College also provides a comprehensive benefits package.
TENURE AND PROMOTION: This is not a tenure track position.
Required Qualifications: This position is temporary and requires teaching Oral Communications/Research/Presentation Skills. Applicants must have 18 graduate semester hours in communications and hold a masters degree or above in the communications field.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate is preferred. A background in public communication and teaching experience are desirable. Working knowledge of computers and computer software, especially multimedia is also desirable. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully taught online courses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaches assigned courses.
- Assists in curriculum development, course reports, and textbook selection.
- Uses instructional technology methods when presenting course content.
- Communicates effectively and efficiently with students.
- Provides written course syllabus which includes classroom policies, procedures, grading, and learning outcomes.
- Uses appropriate and up-to-date course materials, including learning objectives, texts, and supplementary teaching materials.
- Applies classroom management strategies in face to face, hybrid, and/or online format.
- Implements student assessment policies, such as testing or observation of skills.
- Submits grades or other course assessment reports in a timely manner.
- Manages routine classroom responsibilities in a professional manner.
Professional Development:
- Participates in activities that advance professional competencies and teaching skills.
- Engages in activities that advance the teaching discipline or profession.
- Maintains or acquires appropriate or required certifications, licensure, or other professional credentials.
College Responsibilities and Service:
- Serving on department, school, and college-wide committees.
- Participating in the promotion and continuing contract process.
- Keeps scheduled office hours as required by the respective load formula for the purpose of academic advising.
- Records student attendance as necessary.
- Attends department, division, and college-wide academic functions.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of areas of discipline to be taught.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors.
- Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications.
- Commitment to the community college mission, innovative and effective teaching, sustained and significant professional development, and service to the College.
- Computer literacy and the ability to navigate in a Windows environment is also required.
