Salary on appointment will be £48,822 per annum (pro rata), with an annual increment up to £56,535 per annum (pro rata).

The School of Health Sciences’ mission is to be a leader in health care innovation and education, addressing global healthcare challenges and equipping others to do the same.

The School of Health Sciences at the University of East Anglia is a vibrant academic community, with a strong commitment to world leading, applied health research and enterprise. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Lecturer in Speech & Language Therapy (SLT), with proven expertise in dysphagia/eating, drinking, and swallowing (EDS), to join our experienced and dedicated academic team.

You will lead on the dysphagia/EDS strand of the SLT curriculum as well as overseeing content and assessment relevant to motor speech disorders and progressive neurological conditions. You will support practice education placements as an in-house educator, and contribute to wider programme and School educational priorities and scholarly activity. You will have oversight responsibility for maintaining and furthering the integration of dysphagia/EDS content across an evolving programme, while ensuring appropriate opportunities for students to achieve the necessary pre-registration competencies in this area (supported by and in collaboration with the Practice Education Lead and Course Director).

You will be a qualified speech and language therapist with current registration with the HCPC and Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists. You will be able to evidence extensive post-qualifying experience and expertise in dysphagia/EDS, along with successful completion of postgraduate study in SLT, linguistics, psychology, education, or other health-related disciplines.

This post is offered on a part-time (0.8 FTE), fixed term basis to 31 December 2028, with the on-campus working pattern necessarily including a minimum of three full days including Tuesdays and Thursdays during term time. Appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service, including a check of the Child and Adult Barred Lists.

The School of Health Sciences is committed to inclusive, responsive, interprofessional education and research, and to working collaboratively with a range of regional, national and international external partners, professions and organisations to achieve the strategic goals of the School, University and the wider health and social care community.

We strongly encourage applicants from underrepresented groups to apply, including men and candidates who are disabled, LGBTQ+, and/or from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic backgrounds. We welcome applications from all protected groups as defined by the Equality Act 2010. Appointment will be made on merit.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part-time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.
