"Adjunct Part-Time Position in Elementary Coptic"

Position Description

Harvard Divinity School seeks to appoint an adjunct instructor/lecturer for one course in elementary Coptic during the spring semester 2026. This course, which is the second semester of the first year of Elementary Coptic at the College/University-level, will be a continuation of the fall semester and cultivate a foundational reading knowledge of Coptic vocabulary and grammar, equipping students sufficiently to begin engagement with Coptic-language texts and preparing them to thrive in the intermediate study of the language.

The course must be open and accessible to the Divinity School's multi-religious student body. The appointment title will depend on the finalist's qualifications.

Basic Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate the following qualifications:

1. Completed advanced degree (PhD or ABD candidates preferred)
2. Prior experience teaching at the graduate level
3. Sensibility to a multi-religious student body.

Publications in the field are desirable, though not required.
