Adjunct Tuba Instructor

Salary: Starting at $40/hr for private lessons, $50/hr for group classes
The Peabody Preparatory is pleased to announce an Adjunct Tuba teaching position in the Winds, Brass and Percussion Department at the Peabody Preparatory, a division of the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, commencing as soon as possible.
Candidates should be experienced in teaching students of all ages and levels (beginner to advanced) as part of the Peabody Preparatory's growing Winds, Brass and Percussion Department. Candidates should be comfortable teaching both private lessons and chamber music for instrumentalists of all ages.
Duties:
- Teach Tuba lessons to beginner and advanced students of all ages.
- Participate in annual professional development as needed.
- Assist with end-of-semester performances, attend faculty meetings, substitute teach as needed.

Located in the heart of Baltimore's Mount Vernon Cultural District, the Peabody Institute was founded in 1857 as America's first academy of music. Today, through its degree-granting Conservatory and its community-based Preparatory school of music and dance, Peabody trains musicians and dancers of every age and at every level.
The Peabody Preparatory shares space with the Peabody Conservatory in downtown Baltimore, and also has four satellite branches in the communities of Towson, Annapolis, Frederick and Howard County, MD. The Preparatory has approximately 2,000 students studying all orchestral instruments, guitar, piano, voice, dance, theory, composition, early childhood, orchestra, chamber music and more.
Our wind, brass and percussion faculty are comprised of highly skilled and dedicated individuals as part of a vibrant and active department committed to helping all students achieve their potential; we embrace the novice musician as well as the serious student aspiring toward a career in music.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in music and or music education required. Master's degree or equivalent experience and training preferred.
Documented successful teaching experience required.
While department emphasis is on classical technique and repertoire, candidates with training in jazz and popular styles are welcome and encouraged.
