The Department of Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science at LaGuardia Community College is seeking an Administrative Coordinator. The role is a fast-paced, highly demanding position that requires strong multitasking skills and supports department operations.
Duties include:
- Coordinate scheduling and staffing for all MEC courses
- Monitor and track MEC faculty workload to ensure compliance with CUNY policies and regulations
- Coordinate all MEC faculty Multiple Positions process and ensure compliance with various CUNY rules and regulations
- Collaborate with MEC chairperson and program directors on scheduling and workload issues related to full-time and part-time faculty and staff
- Manage all course scheduling, departmental communications with various stake-holders such as chairperson, program directors, course coordinators, registrar, College Now, and ASAP
- Collects course scheduling data, prepares and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Maintains MEC department scheduling records, files and forms
- Provides course scheduling information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and other stake-holders
- Coordinate with the Registrar’s office on all MEC course scheduling logistics and classroom/space needs
- Manage departmental communications, including scheduling meetings, developing work plans, and distributing information
- Provide basic academic advising to students on course-related issues such as over-tallies, course repeats
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with data and reporting (both quantitative and qualitative written reports).
- Highly skilled in MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and/or ability to learn appropriate modules in the CUNYfirst system.
- Demonstrated ability to self-organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Professional experience using CourseDog scheduling software for academic or operational scheduling
- Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in course scheduling, documentation and administrative tasks
