Job Description
Administrative & Program Specialist
The Administrative and Program Specialist coordinates all administrative components of the Bowman AHANA and Intercultural Center (BAIC). This position is key to providing operational aspects of several programs and services. In addition, this role provides support in the following areas:
- The incumbent works closely with the Director and the rest of the staff to develop program budgets and monitor the office's expenditures.
- Responsible for outreach to students for BAIC programming and events.
- Manages the office's marketing and communication. This includes maintaining the website, digital engagement (including maintaining social media accounts), and drafting and coordinating the development of the BAIC newsletter.
- Supervises and coordinates training, hiring, and payroll of student workers.
- Coordinates outreach to various student organizations and to student-facing offices on campus.
- The incumbent supports a variety of office events, with a focus on Ethnic Heritage Month celebrations and LGBTQ+ programming, among other initiatives.
- Each staff member in the Division of Student Affairs is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.
Hiring Range: $27.47/hr to $34.34/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements
- Two years of experience working in a higher education setting.
- Two years of experience planning, coordinating, and implementing diversity-related programs.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Some of this work will take place on weekends and outside of normal business hours.
- Must have marketing and communications experience, including the utilization of various social media platforms.
- Experience working with Student Affairs professionals, students, and campus leaders within a Jesuit university is helpful, but not required.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse populations and creating inclusive and equitable communities.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, engage a wide range of stakeholders, and operate effectively within complex institutional environments, both independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding and supportive of the Jesuit Catholic mission of Boston College.
- Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient with computers, and have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and digital resources.
- Experience with managing budgets and experience with PeopleSoft Financials is preferred.
