Position Summary
The School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences at San Diego State University is seeking an Operations Coordinator to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to oversee the day-to-day administrative operations of the School. You will be responsible for managing multiple priorities, providing lead work direction, and ensuring the efficient functioning of the School's operations, including fiscal management, personnel-related activities, and special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Coordination: Serve as the office coordinator and provide professional, responsive service to students, faculty, staff, advisors, alumni, and community partners. Oversee the day-to-day operations and special projects for the School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences.
- Staff Guidance: Provides lead work direction for administrative staff and student workers, guidance, training, and work coordination.
- Fiscal Accounts Coordination: Collaborate with budget staff to monitor financial activities in alignment with School and University policies.
- Academic Processes Support: Coordinate key academic and personnel processes, including TA/GA contracts, ISA/SA processing and time reporting, class scheduling, adjunct appointments, and faculty workload and assigned time reporting.
- Personnel Processes Support: Coordinate faculty recruitment efforts and personnel processes such as Reappointment, Tenure, and Promotion (RTP) and Periodic Evaluations, along with other related administrative duties.
- Special Projects: Lead or assist with special projects as required by the Director or for the School's operational needs.

Position Information
- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
- This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary
The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) faculty, through advising, teaching, and supervising, offers students a balanced education of academic study, field placement, clinical experiences, and research opportunities. CHHS consists of the following schools: the School of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, the School of Nursing, the School of Social Work, the School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences, the School of Physical Therapy, and the School of Public Health.
The School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences is one of the largest academic departments/schools at San Diego State University with over 2,000 students. It offers two undergraduate majors and six master's degrees in the areas of kinesiology, athletic training, nutritional sciences, exercise physiology, and food science.

Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Key Qualifications
- Progressive administrative or clerical experience in a large, public sector organization (e.g., higher education, public sector, healthcare, or similar environments)
- Experience supporting diverse populations and providing inclusive, customer-focused service.
- Ability to learn and use enterprise systems for HR, scheduling, document management, and workflow processes
- Experience supporting employee related processes and maintaining related records and documentation.
- Experience assisting with scheduling, coordination, and planning activities.
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Compensation:
Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department's budget and equity guidelines.
- Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,367) for highly qualified candidates.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,367 - $6,362 per month (Step 1 - Step 20).
- Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
