About the Role
The Administrative Support Officer (Planning and Council Secretariat) role provides an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in starting or developing a career in university administration to gain experience as part of the team whose responsibility encompasses the breadth of the University’s activity.
You will provide high-quality administrative support to the Governance team, helping to ensure the smooth operation of the University’s central governance structures. This includes supporting Council, its committees, and Congregation, and acting as a key point of contact for colleagues across the team.
Your initial role will provide general administrative support to the Governance team within PACS, in particular in relation to Council and its main committees and web support, being the first port of call for those in the Governance team. You will also provide specialist support for the administration and management of Congregation membership including determining eligibility based on set criteria.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across PACS and the wider University, you will develop a strong understanding of governance processes and administrative systems. As your experience grows, there will be opportunities to broaden your involvement across the section, gaining exposure to a wide range of planning and governance activity and supporting the work of one of the world’s leading universities.
About You
- Experience providing administrative support in a busy office environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Highly organised and detail-focused, with strong written communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Comfortable using digital systems and databases, and willing to learn new processes and technologies.
- Enjoy working collaboratively and can build positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
- Approach your work with professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to delivering a reliable and high-quality service.
