Job Description

The Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) works to bring in the next generation of Sooners. Our team operates from Norman as well as across the state, nation and world. We provide support to incoming domestic and international freshman transfer, and high school concurrent students as they navigate the college application and decision process. Additionally, we partner with faculty/staff, parents, counselors, and communities in providing resources to students interested in higher education. Our goal is to build a vibrant community with limitless potential by recruiting the most academically qualified students with a variety of educational, service, involvement and community experiences.

Essential Duties:

  • Oversees the efforts to identify, recruit, evaluate and enroll prospective students and directs daily operations.
  • Supervise, hire, train, support, and coordinate 100+ campus tour guides
  • Maintain annual hiring and training processes, create individual schedules for tour guides.
  • Manages daily tour and campus visit operations and guest experiences.
  • Plans and coordinates training for staff and student employees regarding tours, serving guests, and other components of campus experiences.
  • Manage daily campus tour operations by overseeing the staffing of tour guides, manage tour inboxes and guest requests daily, coordinate visit requests and tour guide schedules to align with requested appointments.
  • Coordinate group and personalized visit experiences. Assist in planning campus events, group tours, and visits, supporting the entire Campus Experience team.
  • Partners and assists the academic colleges with coordinating visit experiences, tours, and information sessions. Serves as a liaison to the colleges for establishing and executing campus experiences for prospective students and guests.
  • Works with prospective students and their families throughout the admissions process, act as a liaison between students, parents, HS counselors and the University of Oklahoma to coordinate student application/admissions/financial aid/housing/enrollment process.
  • Give presentations regularly to students and families, read admissions applications, and support the recruitment of students from local area high schools to OU. Assist and support prospective students in the admissions & recruitment process.
  • Supervision of 1 FTE on the campus experience team.
  • Create and coordinate a variety of office operations and inventory such as ordering all recruitment materials needed for staff, oversee shipment of materials to national team members, maintain updated inventory of all recruitment materials and supplies.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:

  • 5 years of related experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of student privacy laws.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases
  • Some travel required for recruiting
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations
  • Ability to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively

Certifications:

  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

Physical:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time doing work on a computer and via the telephone. Ability to engage in repetitive motions.

Environmental:

  • Standard Office Environment. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. May be required to travel. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Requires contact with other departments and university officials.
