Advanced Single Cell Omics Facility Research Assistant

Location: Radcliffe Department of Medicine, MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford

Applicants are invited for a skilled Research Assistant working in the field of Single Cell Omics and Spatial Biology in the Advanced Single Cell Omics Facility at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine. The Facility has pioneered the development and application of single cell technologies to study human biology and disease.

You will be responsible for carrying out research projects in the lab and a major part of this will be the processing of client samples for various genomic assays, introducing spatial transcriptomics workflows and developing automation processes. You will also support and deliver hands-on training, workshops and user inductions on single cell OMICS, spatial biology and core laboratory equipment. Duties will also include maintaining high-quality laboratory and data records, routine weekly cleaning of the lab and clean room, whilst overseeing consumable and reagent stock control and equipment maintenance.

A degree in a biomedical, biological or biotechnological science related area and proven administrative and project management skills will be essential. Experience in genomics, molecular biology, library prep and lab automation techniques, together with single cell omics techniques: 10X Genomics, PARSE and Smart-seq3 or other, are also essential.

Experience of using and programming laboratory automation, such as Beckman liquid handlers, TTP Mosquito, Mantis, Integra, would be desirable.

This is a fixed-term full-time position available until 31 July 2027.
