Advocacy Officer

Department of Social Policy and Intervention, 32 Wellington Square, Oxford, OX1 2ER

About the role

The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking an experienced Advocacy Officer to contribute to the coordination, engagement, and policy influence work of the Global Parenting Initiative (GPI). Reporting to the Head of Advocacy, you will play a central role within a dynamic international research and advocacy team, taking on significant independent responsibility to strengthen the uptake, scale-up, and sustainability of evidence-based parenting programmes globally.

About you

You will have knowledge of parenting policy context and established relationships with relevant actors and institutions, along with experience of successful advocacy in a Global South context at a national or regional level. You will have worked collaboratively with international partners to support inter-agency partnerships and joint advocacy. You will hold an advanced degree related to child development and wellbeing in a Global South context and be passionate about preventing violence against children. You will also be fluent in both English and another language spoken in the Global South. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the evidence-base behind effective parenting programmes, in addition to experience of digital and hybrid-digital parenting programmes. You will have proven experience using research to support advocacy and be able to produce outputs for publications or wider dissemination.
