Position Summary

The Agribusiness Program Coordinator coordinates the programming, curriculum approvals, and course coordination for the Agribusiness Certificate, Agribusiness AAS, and Farm Equipment Skill Set. The incumbent will assist with the Animal Science Certificate program. This position assists with scheduling Career Advancement seminars, trainings, and courses as they relate to Agribusiness. This is a faculty position, but may have a mixture of teaching and administrative duties for degree and Career Advancement education. This position will carry a full-time teaching schedule. The incumbent will assist with the establishment, maintenance, and inventory of Agribusiness facilities and teaching equipment located at all locations. This position is responsible for the recruitment and retention of students declaring Agribusiness as their primary major with goals to increase the program enrollment in a consistent and predictable growth percentage annually. The Agribusiness Program Coordinator will assist with recruitment in the Animal Science Certificate Program as well.

This position will maintain and establish the Agribusiness program as both online and in-person formats. This position is a recruitment goal driven position that is expected to meet course production and enrollment goals as set by the Dean of Career Advancement Education and the Vice President of the School of Workforce Development and Engineering Technology. The position is housed at the Blue Ridge CTC Technology Center, but is expected to work at any BRCTC location as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule Agribusiness courses for the Agribusiness Skill Set, including Farm Equipment, Certificate, and AAS Program in both online and in-person offerings, minimum credits hours per semester 15 with full enrollment. More if low enrollments.
  • Maintain a minimum enrollment of 25 - 30 students declaring Agribusiness and related skill sets as their major
  • Monitor and develop curriculum for the Agribusiness Program.
  • Develop related Career Advancement Agribusiness and Animal Science trainings
  • Instruct courses (credit and non-credit) as assigned and approved by the Dean of Career Advancement Education and the VP of Workforce and Engineering.
  • Maintain a full-time teaching schedule.
  • Partner with Blue Ridge CTC colleagues and departments to enhance student services and resolve student issues.
  • Serves as a member of at least one academic committee per year.
  • Represent Blue Ridge CTC at community and college functions relating to Agribusiness Programming and recruiting.
  • Participates in the Strategic Planning for the School of Workforce and Engineering and also individual strategic planning with the Dean of Career Advancement.
  • Coordinate and manage the Agribusiness Advisory Committee, continually expanding membership that represents all aspects of the respective professional communities.
  • Participate on the Animal Science Advisory and the Veterinary Technician committee.
  • Attend professional development and training as mutually agreed upon for professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with all Blue Ridge CTC offices including Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, and Career Advancement Education.
  • Work independently and meet program outcomes and deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Agribusiness, Agriculture or related fields.
  • Masters Degree preferred.

Experience

  • Experience in online adult teaching and online curriculum development preferred or willingness to learn.
  • Minimum two-years experience in adult teaching and/or training.
  • Affiliated and active in local Agricultural / Environmental Organizations and knowledgeable regarding agricultural/Environmental education practices.
  • Background or ability to instruct farm equipment, small engine repair, and farm welding are a plus, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Ability to develop online curriculum and instruct in an online format, or willingness to learn
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner.
  • Ability to multi-task in an environment of rapid change and growth and collaborate with all areas of the College in a positive manner that supports a diverse and a respectful workplace.
  • Must be detail and deadline oriented.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal clerical support and supervision.
  • Ability to utilize Word, Excel, Power Point and BlackBoard at an intermediate level required.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of students, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with faculty and administrators.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that could include early morning, evening hours, or Saturdays (College recruitment events).
  • Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with attention to detail.

Licensure/Certification Required

  • Valid drivers license required.
  • OSHA safety a plus
