The Opportunity:
As an Agriculture Educator, you will provide overall leadership, curriculum development, education, applied research, evaluation and outreach for Washington State University (WSU) Extension agriculture program in Chelan and Douglas Counties.
Your position duties will include, but are not limited to, integrated weed management and noxious weed control, grain production and alternative cropping systems, pesticide education, and farm productivity, profitability and sustainability.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.
Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end one year after date of hire. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Funding has been renewed successfully for several years and we expect funding to continue to be renewed.
Monthly Salary: $4,061.90 - $5,416 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related program experience. A Masters degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver educational programs using a variety of modern methodologies and platforms.
- Demonstrated experiences in applied research and methodologies for agricultural and agronomic cropping systems, farming practices and weed management.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of biological, herbicidal, mechanical and cultural methods of controlling noxious weeds, including pesticide use, hazards and compatibility with ambient environment.
- Knowledge of current state and federal weed control and pesticide laws and regulations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Washington State Public Pesticide Consultant's License, a pesticide operator license and any necessary endorsements within 60 days of hire.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively, with people of varying education, experience, and backgrounds both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated success in grant writing and extramural funds development.
- Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
- Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively, with persons of varying levels of responsibility and experience, both verbally and in writing.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Workday.
- Experience in higher education, local or state agency, or equivalent.
