Aircraft Maintenance Leadership Lecturer

The Center for Aviation Studies at The Ohio State University invites applications for a 10-week (Part-Time) Lecturer appointment in Aircraft and Vehicle Maintenance Technician Leadership Certificate Program. The certificate program will comprise four courses, each focused on a unique aspect of leadership.

Position Overview: The Aircraft Maintenance Leadership Lecturer is a non-tenure track part-time position responsible for teaching and course development within the Center for Aviation Studies. Courses are taught online and support the aircraft and vehicle maintenance technician leadership certificate for non-academic credit. These courses are offered as part of the College of Engineering's Distance Learning Program and have students from various maintenance backgrounds enrolled. Experience in teaching students from various academic backgrounds is required.

The selected candidates will be contracted to develop one of the four courses during the 2025-2026 Academic Year. Upon successful development, the candidate will begin teaching the course. The courses will be offered in succession, starting with the first course in Summer 2026.

  • Course 1: Management & Organizational Leadership for Aircraft & Vehicle Maintenance Teams (offered Summer 2026)
  • Aircraft & Vehicle Maintenance Service Center Accounting & Bookkeeping (offered Fall 2026)
  • Aircraft & Vehicle Maintenance Service Center Customer Relations & Communications (offered Spring 2027)
  • Inventory & Logistics for Aircraft & Vehicle Maintenance Service Centers (offered Spring 2027)

Performance Objectives:

  • Presenting course material and guiding students through assignments
  • Creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success
  • Collaboration with fellow instructors

Education and Experience Requirements:

Required:

  • Valid aircraft maintainers certificate or equivalent automotive certification
  • 10 years of maintenance experience with progressive roles and responsibilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to or demonstrated efforts in teaching that reflect Ohio State's Shared Values

Desired:

  • Two or more years of teaching experience at the community college level or higher
  • Collegiate or industry recognized course development and implementation experience
  • Experience teaching remote courses asynchronously

Department Information: The Center for Aviation Studies aviation programs span three colleges at the university. The Center for Aviation Studies also offers a minor in aviation for students at the university. All aviation programs with the university have received accreditation from Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI). Each semester 300+ students participate in labs or coursework at the university airport, utilizing its fleet of 20 aircraft, flight simulators, air traffic control tower, weather station and communications and navigation systems. Through the Center of Aviation Studies, students have the option to attend the university's Flight Education program that is housed at the university's airport.
