Alliance Associate
Job Overview
The Ohio State Universitys Innovation and Commercialization team within the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge (ERIK) utilizes knowledge and expertise to monitor ongoing partnerships with outside entities and a portfolio of startups under the direction, of the Associate Vice President of Health Science Innovation and Technology. The Alliance Associate will play a critical role in monitoring business development transactions to existing strategic alliance partnerships at The Ohio State University, under a program which involves a diligent and routine tracking process that monitors the terms of a license agreement to ensure proper and timely technology development and payment of royalties and fees, equitable treatment of licensees, and maximizes value and revenue from Ohio State intellectual property. This role will be responsible for managing compliance and relationships of executed agreements between Ohio State and outside entities, equity received from licensing transactions and entrepreneurship activities (Innovation Equity).
Under the direction and supervision of the Associate Director, Intellectual Property & Award, this role performs ongoing monitoring and engagement with the universitys portfolio companies external to the university and working closely with Ohio State faculty; collaborates with other teams within ERIK, including technology licensing, compliance, Sponsored Project Officers, and finance; and onboards new team members, including training, mentoring, and providing guidance as needed.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 years of relevant experience required.
- Specialized knowledge proficiency in engagement, partnership, or alliance manager role, or in venture capital investment activities, university technology commercialization, and new venture formation processes.
- Knowledge of early-stage debt and equity financings, cap tables and ability to perform pro forma analysis of equity holdings/valuations.
- Experience negotiating and managing licensing agreements, including compliance with agreement terms.
- Familiarity with corporate governance documents and venture-related transaction documents, including financings, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder consents and dissolutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Desired Qualifications
- 3 or more years relevant experience.
- Advanced technical degree or masters degree in business administration.
- Experience working in a university setting.
- Experience with Carta and other cap table management programs strongly preferred with experience implementing new software programs and process development.
- Prior portfolio management experience.
- Experience providing training and guidance to colleagues.

Salary
The pay range for this job profile is $58,700.00 - $77,200.00. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on multiple factors including internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
