Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Anatomical and Surgical Skills Laboratory Manager to join Research Infrastructure, Research Portfolio, Academic Division.
We are looking for a professional and enthusiastic new Manager of the Anatomical and Surgical Skills Laboratory (ASSL) to join the Medical Engineering Research Facility of the Queensland University of Technology. The ASSL Manager provides leadership to impact on many people’s lives through the hosting of: - practical bioskills workshops for industry clients, medical societies and hospital groups, - anatomy education, and - research and development. We are looking for a person who can maintain, strengthen and develop new client relationships to ensure the continued growth and success of the laboratory in each of these areas. The successful candidate demonstrates exceptional professional integrity, has strong team management skills and comprehensive knowledge of compliance obligations. They will lead by example, fostering client focus and professional standards within the team. The Medical Engineering Research Facility (MERF) at The Prince Charles Hospital is one of the distributed sites of QUT's Research Infrastructure unit. The facility provides a comprehensive suite of facilities with unique capabilities to support researchers in taking novel concepts from basic research to clinical implementation. MERF’s Anatomical Surgical Skills Laboratory (ASSL) provides a realistic environment for academic research, anatomy teaching and/or practical skills training of new and existing surgical medical procedures or implants for health professionals, resulting in better quality of care for patients..
What you need to succeed
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience in managing the financial, physical and human resources of an anatomy, healthcare or surgical skills training facility, or of another facility in a related field with comparable compliance requirements and complexity.
- Demonstrated knowledge or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the Queensland Transplantation & Anatomy Act 1979 and associated regulations, including reporting and record keeping obligations.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high?performing teams, uphold strong client service and ethical standards, foster a positive team culture, manage performance through feedback, allocate workloads effectively, and identify development needs to deliver quality business outcomes.
- Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to coordinate a diverse range of complex activities using limited resources, with a focus on the client’s needs while maintaining the highest level of compliance and respect.
- Well-developed oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate, consult and negotiate to establish and maintain long-lasting business relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation.
- Demonstrated high level written skills, including the ability to write correspondence, reports and policy documents in a clear concise manner.
- Proven digital literacy skills with effective use of information technology (Microsoft Teams/Sharepoint) and other corporate systems.
