Director, Aerospace Training (Grant Funded)

Coordinates assessment and certification testing, including SpaceTEC when applicable, with qualified examiners, instructors, and participating students or employees. (E)

Coordinates use of aerospace training laboratories and equipment; prepares timely purchase requests for instructional supplies, materials, and laboratory equipment; coordinates procurement, delivery, and installation with appropriate District personnel through established procedures. (E)

Directs, leads, and coordinates grant-related instructional facility construction or renovation schedules, progress tracking, and reporting documentation with Facilities, Purchasing, and authorized District personnel; communicates impacts on training schedules and grant milestones. (E)

Maintains accurate training, assessment, certification, and participant records; coordinates records with instructors and Admissions and Records; protects confidentiality and release information through authorized procedures. (E)

Organizes educational counseling meetings and access to relevant student support services for participating students and employees. (E)

Recruits and identifies potential part-time instructors; coordinates grant-funded faculty and staff hiring requests, timelines, and supporting documentation with the Dean and People, Culture, and Talent personnel; coordinates training delivery with faculty, appropriate academic administrators, and corporate personnel. (E)

Maintains separate work plans, milestones, deliverables, deadlines, and implementation records for each assigned grant; monitors progress, identifies risks, and recommends corrective action to designated grant leadership. (E)

Monitors each grant’s budget and expenditures against its approved funding requirements; coordinates expenditure documentation, financial reporting support, and funding requests with Fiscal and Financial Services and authorized District personnel. (E)

Prepares required grant accountability, milestones, progress, annual, and final reports and performance data submissions; coordinates partner contributions and routes reports for authorized review, approval, and signature. (E)

Collaborates with partner colleges, employers, workforce agencies, and other participating organizations; organizes required governance and advisory meetings, document decisions, and track action items, partner deliverables, and subaward documentation. (E)

Supports the preparation and implementation of consortium agreements and data-sharing protocols for assigned grants, in coordination with designated grant leadership and authorized District offices. (E)

Coordinates program and curriculum updates, stackable credentials, articulation, and integration of applicable industry and funding agency technical standards with faculty and appropriate academic administrators to support grant requirements; facilitates employer review of training competencies and provides program information to Financial Aid as requested. (E)

Arranges and manages grant-supported internships, cooperative education, Registered Apprenticeship pathways, career awareness, and dual enrollment activities with appropriate college offices and partners; tracks placements and completion outcomes. (E)

Develops surveys and collects and validates program data, including enrollment, course success, retention, credential completion, employment placement, and wage outcomes as required by assigned grants; works with designated grant leadership, institutional research personnel, and independent evaluators on evaluation plans and reports; assesses training effectiveness and recommends improvements. (E)

Organizes and facilitates required workforce convenings, faculty development and externship activities, and preparation and dissemination of implementation toolkits and other grant deliverables; supports sustainability and replication planning with partners. (E)

Promotes equitable access to training and student success; demonstrates sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and employees; follows District nondiscrimination policies. (E)

Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

This is a grant funded position. Continued employment is based on the receipt of funding.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience in project or grant management, or an associate’s degree and six (6) years of experience in project or grant management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the aerospace industry as a mechanic, technician, or project manager.

Experience as a liaison between educational institutions and corporations.

Experience managing contract education.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION, SPECIAL AND/OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• May be required to hold and maintain a valid driver license ‘if and when’ travel is required in the course of work.
• May be required to travel for various off-site meetings, trainings, conferences, and/or events in support of the overall objective of the position.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

• Program evaluation, survey development, performance data collection, and data-informed improvement.
• Aerospace training pathways, industry partnerships, and work-based learning activities relevant to assigned grants.
• Effective written and oral communication, collaboration, consensus-building, project planning, marketing, and public relations.
• Modern office practices, equipment, and software.

Ability to:

• Learn, interpret, apply, and explain applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, District policies, and grant requirements.
• Lead and supervise assigned staff, including planning, directing, assigning, scheduling, training, and evaluating work within delegated authority.
• Manage large, multifaceted projects and multiple grants within approved scopes, guidelines, and delegated authority.
• Develop and maintain separate grant work plans; monitor milestones, deliverables, deadlines, enrollment capacity, participant outcomes, budgets, expenditures, and reporting requirements.
• Develop preliminary budgets, track and monitor expenditures, and coordinate fiscal documentation in accordance with approved grant budgets and District procedures.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records; prepare clear correspondence, presentations, and quarterly and other required grant accountability reports using appropriate office software.
• Coordinate training schedules, class sections, participant cohorts, assessment and certification activities, and curriculum-related training activities with faculty and appropriate academic administrators.
• Analyze assessment results, program performance data, and operational challenges; evaluate alternatives and recommend improvements.
• Develop and sustain partnerships with educational institutions, employers, workforce organizations, students, faculty, staff, administrators, and other grant participants.
• Communicate effectively, orally, electronically, and in writing, with cultural competence, discretion, tact, and respect for differing perspectives.
• Promote equitable access, student success, program completion, participatory governance, consensus-building, academic freedom, and collaborative management.
• Plan, organize, and implement programs, policies, and procedures within assigned authority to meet student, staff, community, and grant needs.
• Work independently, exercise sound judgment, facilitate meetings, and meet established schedules and deadlines.
• Operate standard office equipment and travel to educational and partner sites locally and domestically as required.
• Coordinate and facilitate meetings.
