Position Description
Responsible for coordination of a comprehensive sports science program. Work directly with sports performance staff and student athletes to incorporate sports science strategies during training and recovery.
Major/Essential Functions
- Responsible for athlete monitoring, testing, and data collection using Catapult, EliteForm, VALD, Vert, and Kinotek to support the integration of sports science insights into injury prevention, recovery, and performance enhancement programs.
- Responsible for gathering and analyzing performance data using GPS DataViz, creating reports to support coaching staff, strength and conditioning staff, and sports medicine staff with player development, recovery, and injury prevention.
- Collaborate with the Olympic Strength Staff to monitor and document player readiness and wellness metrics, helping to inform daily training and recovery recommendations.
- Help facilitate testing and assessment protocols, ensuring accurate and timely data collection that aids in decision-making and player care.
- Assist other strength coaches on the Olympic side when needed, with the possibility of coaching your own sport.
- Stay informed on current research and emerging technologies relevant to sports science, sharing insights with the team to enhance department initiatives.
- Responsible for the maintenance, setup, and operation of monitoring equipment, ensuring equipment is calibrated and ready for daily use.
- Comply with all NCAA, Big 12, and Texas Tech University rules, regulations, and policies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology, kinesiology, sports science or related field. One year of experience as a sport scientist in collegiate or professional athletics. Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Sports Science, or a related field required.
- Previous experience in sports science within a collegiate and/or professional athletics environment.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing performance and sports science metrics.
- Experience developing, maintaining, and managing large-scale athlete monitoring databases for team sports.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary team environments.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience developing, managing, and coordinating sports science staff.
- Demonstrated success in creating performance solutions that provide competitive advantages and enhance student-athlete development.
- Experience with Catapult, VALD, EliteForm, Vert, and Kinotek technologies.
- SCCC or CSCS certification required; CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
Pay Range
$48,000
