What are Aspiring Educator Pathways in the High Schools?
The Community College of Aurora (CCA) invites applications for Aspiring Educator Pathway Instructors. This pathway, created in partnership with the Cherry Creek School District (CCSD), recruits and approves educators to serve as instructors who will help prepare the next generation of teachers.
Please note: This position is not open to external applicants. Only Cherry Creek School District and Community College of Aurora employees, recruited and approved by CCSD and CCA, are eligible to apply.
Aspiring Educator Pathway Instructors teach college-level courses that emphasize inquiry-based instruction, purposeful integration of technology, literacy and mathematics content expertise, and professional teacher dispositions. AEP instructors serve as instructors for CCA and on behalf of CCSD, ensuring alignment between district needs and higher education standards.
OVERVIEW OF CCA
The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructor for Aspiring Educator Pathway Only
- Teach college-level education courses in the Aspiring Educator Pathway at CCSD and CCA locations.
- Deliver curriculum aligned with CCAs Education Department and the Aspiring Educator Pathway program outcomes.
- Provide high-quality instruction that integrates inquiry-based practices and effective technology use.
- Assess student progress using a variety of methods and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with CCA faculty and staff, CCSD staff, and program leadership to ensure consistency, rigor, and student success.
- Model professional disposition, ethical practice, and reflective teaching.
- Participate in required training, orientation, and professional development.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Current employment with Cherry Creek School District (CCSD) and approval by the district to teach in the Aspiring Educator Pathway.
- Masters degree in Education or a closely related field, or an MA/MS in the field of teaching.
- General Education or GT (guaranteed pathways) courses: The successful instructor must have a master's degree in the discipline that they are hired for, or an unrelated master's degree and at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline to be taught. They must also be approved by the chair.
- Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses: The successful instructor must meet the qualifications of their specific discipline which may include certification/ licensure or a bachelor's or master's degree. They must also meet the occupational experience hours required.
- A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Education or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in K–12 teaching with strong content knowledge in literacy, mathematics, or related content areas.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with inquiry-based instruction, Purpose-Driven Learning (PDL), and project-based teaching.
- Proven ability to integrate technology effectively into instructional practices.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Salary: Salary to be determined by CCSD.
Benefits: There are no insurance benefits offered with this position; however, other benefits associated with this type of position include a pension plan through the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association and eligibility to contribute to supplemental retirement plans.
