Position Summary
The Assessment and Research Strategist manages and oversees all aspects of program-level assessment, data analysis, and educational research within the Weill Cornell Medicine Master of Science in Health Sciences for Physician Assistants Program. In coordination with the program leadership team, this role is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive assessment strategy that aligns with ARC-PA accreditation standards and supports the program's mission of continuous program improvement, academic excellence, and advancement of the program's scholarly mission.
This hybrid position reports directly to the PA Program Director and works closely with program faculty, the Manager of Compliance and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and the Educational Research, Outcomes, and Innovation team. The role allows for three remote workdays per week.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the development, execution, and continuous refinement of the program's strategic assessment and evaluation plans.
- Oversee the collection, organization, and analysis of data that support continuous program improvement, including student learning outcomes, curriculum effectiveness, and program performance metrics.
- Create and deliver data visualizations, presentations, and formal reports to faculty, program leadership, and external accrediting body.
- Direct curriculum mapping and learning outcome alignment initiatives in collaboration with faculty.
- Manage assessment cycles, timelines, and documentation for accreditation reporting and site visits.
- Serve as a thought partner in shaping the program's approach to data-driven decision-making and scholarly advancement.
- Occasional travel to participate in academic conferences, research collaborations, accreditation updates, and specialized training sessions that promote continued professional development and growth.
- Support faculty and students by contributing to research initiatives and applying advanced and basic statistical methods to inform evidence-based decisions.
- Conduct and understand basic statistical analyses (e.g., correlation, regression, item analysis) using statistical software (i.e. Excel, SPSS, etc.) to inform evidence-based decision making.
- Coordinate with institutional offices to align program-level assessment and compliance frameworks.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the program and organization.
Education
- Master's degree (or higher) required in a related field (e.g., Public Health, Epidemiology, Educational Psychology, Statistics).
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in academic assessment, educational research, or data analysis
- Demonstrated proficiency in statistical software (i.e. Excel, SPSS, etc.) and understanding of basic statistical methods used in educational assessment
- Advanced skills in data visualization and reporting tools, including Excel, Access, Tableau, PowerPoint, and survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics).
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and support faculty and contribute to curriculum development.
- Experience in health professions education, preferably within a PA or other clinical program.
- Familiarity with ARC-PA accreditation standards or similar.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in an academic or research environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) and collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks efficiently.
- Effective communicator, skilled in coordinating with students, faculty, and cross-functional academic teams.
- High level of attention to detail, particularly when handling compliance data and document management.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA and HIPAA guidelines in handling student and faculty information.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs within a fast-paced academic environment.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently while maintaining strong team communication and support.
