Assignment Coordinator
Job Summary
The Assignments Coordinator is responsible for housing assignments for 1500 residential beds and the direct management of the housing information database system. This position works closely with the Senior Housing Operations Coordinator in the effective utilization of StarRez to receive and process applications, management of space allocation, room selection, and assignment processes, and housing report generation and analysis that helps to inform departmental decisions and initiatives. The Coordinator serves as a key liaison between students, parents, and internal university departments to ensure a positive residential experience and efficient housing operations.
Responsibilities
HOUSING ASSIGNMENTS: Assists the Senior Housing Operations Coordinator. Manage the assignment process, utilizing the StarRez housing information management system. Design and implement student housing occupancy, room selection, and process details and timelines. Maintain accurate housing occupancy records in StarRez for occupancy reports, room assignments, check-in/out processes, and related correspondence with current and future students. Manage the Expanded Occupancy housing process, including temporary assignments, communication, and reassignment to permanent space as it becomes available. Coordinates correspondence with housing appeals, housing assignments, cancellations, and wait/preference lists. Responds to student and family concerns regarding housing assignment, meal plan, and billing questions and concerns. Interpret policies and procedures related to housing assignments.
STARREZ MANAGEMENT: Responsible for the coordination and setup of all input data parameters in StarRez for terms, rates, and break housing, move-in, and move-out appointments. Updates and maintains the accuracy of the student classifications to create reports in StarRez. Maintains updates to the portal and applications for StarRez PortalX. Works in collaboration with Information Technology on troubleshooting, generating reports, and setup/maintenance of StarRez. Distinguish reporting needs between various groups and functional users to prioritize and deliver needs accordingly. Provide details to graphically represent the spatial occupancy. Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation of StarRez software upgrades and implementation of future modules.
DEPARTMENT ENGAGEMENT: Contribute to and participate in strategic planning, department goal setting, data/assessment efforts, and determining community staffing priorities and initiatives. Assist with special projects and serve as a supportive team member within the department and university. Participate in university, divisional, and departmental training and developmental activities as needed. Serve as a liaison to other departments, providing information on housing issues or needs. Establish and maintain a positive rapport with departmental contacts.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in student affairs, higher education, business administration, information systems, or a related field and one year of experience in housing, student services, customer service, or administrative role OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in business, information systems, or a related field and two years of experience in housing, student services, customer service, or administrative role.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Higher Education environment preferred. Familiarity with housing assignment systems (e.g., StarRez, Symplicity) and/or student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft). Knowledge of ADA, FERPA, Title IX, and housing-related compliance issues.

Knowledge of housing management software (e.g., StarRez, Symplicity).
Familiarity with student information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Banner).

Accurate and timely completion of recurring housing processes and reports.
Customer Service Orientation- Maintain a student-focused approach when solving problems or communicating decisions.

Shift: Days; M-F
Pay Band: B3
Salary: $16.54/hourly-$19.17/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
