Description
The University of New England (UNE) in Portland, Maine, invites applications for a Doctoral Capstone Coordinator (DCC), Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor in the Occupational Therapy Department.

The DCC will have the primary responsibility for creating, implementing, and overseeing capstone experiences in compliance with the Accreditation for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) D Standards, and will be defined as a core faculty member. This position includes recruiting, developing, and sustaining community partnerships with capstone sites and advising students through the capstone process, including capstone development and implementation. The (DCC) will work closely with the Program Director and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, completing program evaluation and assessment of outcomes as part of the capstone collaboration. This position will also include teaching, course development, scholarship, and service responsibilities. The successful candidate will possess experience in curricular development, mentoring, advising, and supervising students, strong communication skills, and the ability to organize and manage higher-level administrative tasks. Candidates should also have recent experience with effective learner-centered teaching, a strong interest in interprofessional education, and the ability to teach courses across the UNE OT curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Program Director and faculty at large, the DCC will be responsible for the development and implementation of the doctoral capstone curriculum as part of a new entry-level OTD track in the OT department.
    • Develop and edit doctoral capstone procedures and manuals
    • Design the program evaluation component for the capstone experience
    • Develop, recruit, and sustain community partnerships with doctoral capstone sites
  • Advise and mentor doctoral capstone students through the capstone process
  • Demonstrate understanding of institutional review board requirements at university, clinical, and community levels
  • Teach graduate-level courses as assigned
  • Develop or modify syllabi, assignments, and evaluation methods for courses assigned
  • Serve on departmental, college, university, and professional committees
  • Support the departmental, college, and university missions and participate in regular strategic planning to support those missions
  • Participate in the accreditation self-study process (specifically the D standards) and other departmental activities
  • Participate in annual assessment and reporting cycles, as specified by the university and ACOTE.
  • Engage in community-based services.
  • Remain current in certification and Maine Licensure.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be initially registered as an occupational therapist and must possess or be eligible for occupational therapy licensure in the state of Maine.
  • Hold a minimum of a post-professional doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body.
  • Must have at least 3 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy that must include clinical practice experience, teaching responsibilities at the post-secondary level, and scholarship (scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning, etc).
  • Possess effective oral/written communication, problem-solving, computer, and organizational skills involving multiple stakeholders.
