Position Summary:

Maria College seeks a full-time (12-month) Assistant/Associate Professor in Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program. The weekend program follows a year-round schedule (Fall, Spring, and Summer), with courses delivered on campus every other weekend. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching graduate-level courses, advising and mentoring students, evaluating program effectiveness, developing courses and program initiatives, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. Additional responsibilities include participating in program admissions and orientation events, as well as representing the MSOT program on college-wide committees and faculty governance committees. Responsibilities begin January 2026 and will include teaching a variety of courses in occupational therapy along with courses in one’s clinical expertise.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach three graduate-level OT education courses each Fall, Spring and Summer semester in the weekend on-campus format.
  • Actively engage as a core faculty member through student advising, mentoring, and supervision of program students.
  • Contribute to program development through course design, curricular innovation, and support of program initiatives.
  • Participate in program assessment and continuous improvement efforts, including evaluation of program effectiveness and compliance with ACOTE accreditation standards.
  • Assist with graduate student recruitment, admissions, and orientation activities.
  • Provide service to the program, the College, the OT profession, and the broader community.
  • Serve on program/department, and college-wide committees as needed.
  • Engage in scholarly and other activities consistent with the expectations of academic faculty in teaching, scholarship, and service as outlined in the faculty handbook
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with occupational therapy agencies, professional associations, and licensure boards.
  • Contribute to preparing students for their post graduate career and finding who they are called to be.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the College.

Required Qualifications:

  • OT licensure, or eligibility for licensure in the State of NY.
  • Clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist, 2 years minimum
  • Program development as shown by the ability to analyze, develop and implement new activities or programs.
  • Evidence of a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Evidence of effectiveness in teaching and evaluation of student learning.
  • The job offer is contingent on the successful completion of a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Entry-Level Doctorate in Occupational Therapy or a Post-Professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy, or willingness to obtain Doctorate after hiring
  • 2-4 years of experience as a faculty member with teaching responsibilities at the postbaccalaureate level.
  • Involvement in national OT associations, and those directly applicable to Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience supervising others (i.e., groups, staff, peers, students).
  • Experience with completing program assessment for College’s internal needs.
  • Experience in online, hybrid, and face-to-face teaching formats.

Salary:

$85,000 - $125,000

Faculty salaries using the scale for a 3-semester, 12-month appointment range from $85,000 to $125,000. The actual salary will be based on the experience, rank, and appointment term of the candidate selected to fill this position.
