Required Related Experience: Completion of residency in Psychiatry. Knowledge of psychiatric practices in a variety of clinical, teaching, and research environments, as well as a demonstrated ability in teaching students at all levels in an academic environment.
Required License/Registration/Certification: Board eligible/board certified in Psychiatry by the American Psychiatric Association. Current licensure, or eligibility to obtain licensure, to practice medicine in the state of Kentucky.
Job Summary: The Department of Psychiatry at the University Of Kentucky College Of Medicine is seeking a residency-trained, board certified/board eligible Associate Professor. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in clinical care as well as teaching, administration, and professional development. Preferred experience includes previous experience in providing psychiatric services, as well as experience in teaching medical students, residents, and other health professionals. This position will be instrumental to expand inpatient physician coverage on the Behavioral Health Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital and to provide backup coverage for consultation-liaison and Emergency Department psychiatric care at Good Samaritan and Chandler hospitals. In addition this faculty position may provide backup clinical coverage and resident supervision for the Empath Unit located on the campus of Eastern State Hospital. This program will help create a 24-hour coverage model multiple locations to increase access to psychiatric consults and care throughout the hospitals and Emergency Departments. This position will help provide a proactive consult for patients by placing psychiatrists in medical units throughout the two hospitals for early identification and intervention for behavioral disorders, substance abuse disorders, and psychiatric conditions.
