About the Department
There are 14 full-time faculty with primary appointments in Chemical Engineering (CHE), ~450 undergraduate students and about 60 graduate students in our CHE program established in 1911. CHE is a nationally top-ranked co-op program. The department’s research expenditure exceeded $6.2 million in fiscal year 2025 with roughly 60% from the CHE program.
Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati (UC) Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering (ChEE) invites applications for a Chemical Engineering non-tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor-Educator or Professor of Practice position. The appointment is expected to begin August 15, 2026. ChEE seeks candidates within the field of chemical engineering, to teach courses in specialty areas related but not limited to the following:
- Green chemistry and sustainable chemical production processes.
- Chemical process design and process simulation.
- Chemical process techno-economic assessment.
Essential Functions
- Teaching courses at the undergraduate level in the area of chemical engineering covering topics such as but not limited to “sustainable chemical production processes”, “chemical process design and process simulation, and “chemical process techno-economic assessment”; as well as other core undergraduate courses in the chemical engineering curriculum such as Chemical Engineering Laboratory and Transport Phenomena;
- Teaching graduate level courses related to the focus areas as noted above;
- Preparing course materials, developing and administering examinations, and participating in graduate-level assessments; and
- Providing service to the profession and university, including but not limited to membership on various committees at the department, college, and university levels; and externally as a peer reviewer for scholarly works, as a member of professional organizations, or as an organizer or chair of professional society conferences.
Minimum Requirements
For appointment as Assistant/Associate Professor - Educator, both of the following are required prior to the effective date of the appointment:
- B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering and
- Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
For appointment as Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice, both of the following are required prior to the effective date of the appointment:
- B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering; and
- Seven (7) years of relevant industrial experience.
