Assistant/Associate Professor Occupational Therapy (TT)
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The University of the Pacific, School of Health Sciences invites qualified applicants to apply for the full-time, core faculty, 11-month, tenure-track position in the Entry-Level OTD program at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank (depending on qualifications and academic experience).
Teaching OTD program content in both didactic and clinical, advising students, participation in simulation, curriculum development, interprofessional education, assisting with student and part-time faculty orientation, and accreditation preparation activities. Faculty are expected to attend program, curriculum, and other campus committee meetings. Other responsibilities may include contacting clinical agencies, orienting and evaluating part-time faculty and interviewing prospective students.
Effective teaching, interprofessional collaboration, research, creative activity, and service to the University are required for retention and promotion. Position includes use of support for research, professional development, and scholarly activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Terminal degree (PP-OTD, PhD, EdD) from an accredited university with experience in curriculum development, research and supervision of graduate projects required.
Licenses/Certifications: Initial certification by NBCOT as an OTR required. Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California required.
Teaching Experience: Minimum 4 years teaching in doctoral level occupational therapy program. Curriculum development. Assessment and evaluation. Innovative pedagogical approaches. Evidence of scholarship record needed for promotion and rank.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Familiarity with ACOTE accreditation standards.
- 5 years' experience teaching entry-level occupational therapy content.
- Experience mentoring graduate student research or capstone projects.
- Demonstrated experience with simulation or innovative teaching modalities.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Physical Requirements
This is an in-person role, and the successful candidate must be willing to relocate within California, preferably within 25 miles of the Sacramento Pacific campus.
