Job Summary: MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, is seeking a passionate educator to join our faculty as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Criminal Justice. Position Description:
- Develop and deliver high-quality undergraduate courses in criminal justice utilizing innovative teaching methods to engage students
- Foster a supportive educational environment by advising and mentoring students in academic choices, career development, and student clubs and activities
- Assist the department and university to recruit and enroll students who are a good fit for our culture, mission, and vision
- Develop, evaluate, and revise curriculum, course materials, and delivery methods as changes in the field and teaching environments warrant
- Provide leadership for the criminal justice program and assist the Department Chair with program management tasks such as assessment
- Participate in scholarly activities and serve on department and university committees
- Works collegially with departmental and cross campus faculty
Qualifications:
- A doctorate in criminal justice, law, or related field. ABD or master’s degree with strong experience will be considered.
- Evidence of high-quality teaching and desire to actively participate in student mentorship is highly preferred.
- Student-focused educator committed to student learning, retention, persistence, and completion.
- History of successful engagement/experience with law enforcement, corrections, courts and/or related community services.
- A track record as a collaborative, servant-leader with outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
