Job Summary: MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, is seeking a passionate educator to join our faculty as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Criminal Justice. This full time position is ideal for professionals committed to shaping service minded leaders in a variety of criminal justice areas such as law, law enforcement, corrections, and related public service fields. Candidates should embody a Christ Centered worldview, model servant leadership, and contribute enthusiastically to student success both inside and outside the classroom.

Position Description:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality undergraduate courses in criminal justice utilizing innovative teaching methods to engage students
  • Foster a supportive educational environment by advising and mentoring students in academic choices, career development, and student clubs and activities
  • Assist the department and university to recruit and enroll students who are a good fit for our culture, mission, and vision
  • Develop, evaluate, and revise curriculum, course materials, and delivery methods as changes in the field and teaching environments warrant
  • Provide leadership for the criminal justice program and assist the Department Chair with program management tasks such as assessment
  • Participate in scholarly activities and serve on department and university committees
  • Works collegially with departmental and cross campus faculty

Qualifications:

  • A doctorate in criminal justice, law, or related field. ABD or master’s degree with strong experience will be considered.
  • Evidence of high-quality teaching and desire to actively participate in student mentorship is highly preferred.
  • Student-focused educator committed to student learning, retention, persistence, and completion.
  • History of successful engagement/experience with law enforcement, corrections, courts and/or related community services.
  • A track record as a collaborative, servant-leader with outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
