Assistant / Associate Professor of Experimental Physics in "Advanced Materials Science" (m/f/d)
(full time; 38.5 hrs./week; tenure track; to be filled ideally by February 2026, limited to 3 years)
Your responsibilities:
- Investigating organic hybrid materials, two-dimensional (2D) materials, or materials based on functionalized surfaces
- Exploit quantum or interface effects and combine experimental and computational approaches
- Maintain a cutting-edge externally funded research program at the forefront of the field which complements existing research groups in the School of Science
- Teaching in Physics and Advanced Materials Science (lectures and laboratory courses) at the BSc, MSc, and PhD level
- Take a pivotal role in the new MSc program “Advanced Materials Science” with your research experience and via the development and implementation of innovative, pedagogically sound approaches to online, hybrid and in-person teaching and learning
- Advising of students on their studies, and the supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD theses and research projects
Your qualifications:
- PhD degree in the field of Physics or Materials Science
- Strong publication record in relevant international journals
- Documented research activities in the field of Advanced Materials Science
- Experience in the acquisition of Third-Party funding
- Experience in successful teaching in international and diverse environments, with a demonstratable interest in applying innovative teaching and learning approaches
- Intercultural experience and competence
- Responsible, self-motivated person able to work independently and as a part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, the language of instruction and communication on campus
- Ideally, you are eligible for an ERC starting grant (assistant level) or an ERC consolidator grant (associate level)
