Assistant or Associate Professors of Nursing: Medicine/Surgery

Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), Department of Nursing invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor faculty member. Anticipated start date is August 2026. We seek applicants who will prepare holistic, professional nurses to address the evolving health care needs of the populations they serve and provide quality, person-centered care.
The successful candidate will teach across the curriculum with specialization experience in Medical/Surgical nursing. Faculty are assigned a 12-credit hour load each semester. Credit may be earned through teaching courses in the undergraduate BSN, the RN to BSN, ABSN and/or MSN programs. Additional credit may include direct and indirect clinical supervision, and laboratory instruction. In addition to classroom and clinical teaching responsibilities, faculty are expected to engage in scholarship/creative activity, productive service and professional activity.
Required Qualifications (Assistant Professor)
- An earned Doctorate (PhD, EdD or DNP); or A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and completion of at least one year in a doctoral program (PhD, EdD or DNP). Doctoral degree must be completed within four years of hire.
- Currently teaching didactic classes in Medical/Surgical nursing in a baccalaureate nursing program in an accredited college or university for at least one year.
- Currently teaching clinical in Medical/Surgical nursing in a baccalaureate nursing program in an accredited college or university for at least one year.
- Licensed in the State of Connecticut as a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or eligibility.
- Currently practicing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- Meaningful scholarship/creative activity relevant to nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned doctorate (PhD, EdD or DNP)
- Professional publications relevant to nursing
- Experience with high fidelity simulation
