Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing, Tenure Track, or Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing, Non-Tenure Track; Undergraduate Nursing Program Director - Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences

The Undergraduate Nursing Program Director supports administrative oversight of the undergraduate nursing degree program of the Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The Program Director has a work assignment with dedicated time providing administrative, resource, curriculum and evaluation support for the degree program. This individual works effectively and cooperatively with other University departments, including admissions personnel to support recruitment and admissions of students into the undergraduate nursing degree program.

This 9-month position is also a member of the faculty and is appointed to standing faculty committees. The individual in this position is involved in the development and evaluation of the undergraduate nursing program and students and is actively involved in leadership, teaching, guidance, and advising undergraduate students. Scholarly work and professional service are also essential aspects of a faculty member's role responsibilities.

The Assistant/Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate Professor will:

  • Support the mission of Ashland University and the College.

  • Provide instruction in a thorough and professional manner.
  • Contribute to course and curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Participate in academic advisement.
  • Serve on college and university committees as assigned and on a volunteer basis.
  • Participate in activities that provide professional service to the community and leadership of professional organizations.
  • Maintain exemplary academic standards and be consistently active in development of teaching methods and evaluation.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and role-modeling for undergraduate students.
  • Effectively work with the daily mental and physical stresses of the job which includes, but is not limited to: meeting deadlines; attending meetings including university, college, department and program related meetings and events; completing compliance requirements; meeting and working with staff, faculty, graduate students, and the public.
  • Promote and maintain collaborative relationships between college and clinical agencies that support undergraduate nursing programs.
  • Develop and maintain a program of scholarly activity that includes review of texts and articles, implementation of evidence, writing, editing, and presenting.
  • Engage in other scholarly activities such as reviewing texts and articles or serving in a consulting capacity based on expertise.
  • Maintain involvement in professional associations by attending and participating in professional meetings and accreditation-related conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an approved registered nursing education program in a jurisdiction as defined in paragraph (s) of rule 47233-5-01 of the Administrative Code.
  • Experience for at least five (5) years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse, two of which have been as a faculty member in a registered nursing education program.
  • Master's degree with a major in nursing.
  • Current, valid licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio.
  • Official transcripts for all degrees held verifying academic preparation and specialization.
  • Demonstrated evidence of teaching and/or clinical excellence, scholarly activity, professional leadership, and community service.
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Documented evidence of excellent interpersonal skills at previous position or rank.
