Job Summary
The Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy, a part of the UT Health Science Center at The University of Texas at Tyler, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Health Outcomes. Appointments are for 12 months (9-month faculty appointment plus 3-month summer supplement). We are seeking qualified candidates for the combined specialty areas of Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmacogenomics, OR Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join an innovative, student-centered academic Pharm.D. program. Courses are taught using an active learning environment that values personal and professional growth and the development of each student.
Essential Functions include contributing to developing and delivering the course contents in the Pharm.D. curriculum, developing an active research program with external funding, advising students, and providing service to the department, college, university, community, and nation.
The start date for the position is flexible. Salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The review of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
Essential Functions
Contribute to the development delivery of the Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmacogenomics, OR Pharmacokinetics components of the core classroom, laboratory, and elective courses within the Pharm D. curriculum.
In addition to a dedication to excellent teaching, all faculty are required to engage in productive research and scholarship.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or comparable degree in a related field.
- Proven track record of research and scholarship in his/her area of expertise. Appointment as the associate professor would require transferable external funding.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
