ASSISTANT/ ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR- Tenure Track Physiology
The Department of Molecular & Integrative Physiology at the University of Michigan Medical School invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with preference given to applicants seeking their first position or current assistant professors. We seek an outstanding colleague, whose research addresses cutting-edge questions with state-of-the-art approaches in any area of physiology and/or pathophysiology. While all areas will be considered, there is special interest in candidates whose research focuses on gastrointestinal physiology or disease. Existing department strengths in these areas include 1) gastrointestinal stem cells and epithelium maintenance, 2) inflammatory diseases of the gut, 3) liver physiology and disease, and 4) liver, pancreatic, and gastrointestinal cancers. The successful candidate will join an inclusive, interdisciplinary, and very supportive departmental community that prioritizes transformative science along with training the next generation of scientific leaders. Support for dual career couples is available.
The Department of Molecular & Integrative Physiology is one of the top physiology departments in the world where faculty work side-by-side with researchers uncovering fundamental basic biology and mechanisms of human disease using a wide range of molecular, cellular, and organismal systems. Qualifications include a Ph.D. and/or M.D., a strong record of research accomplishments and ability to direct an independently-funded research program, a passion for mentoring/teaching, and a commitment to continuing and promoting the collegial and respectful environment in the Department. Preference will be given to Assistant Professor applicants.
