Job Description Summary: Seeking individuals to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in computer science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and/or quantum computing; mentor students; provide service to the institution. The start date is August 2026.
Job Description: The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSE) invites applications for one or more positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor or Assistant/Associate Lecturer. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in computer science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and/or quantum computing, mentor students, and contribute service to the department and university. The typical teaching load for this position is 24 semester credit hours per year, with approximately 80% of the workload dedicated to teaching and approximately 20% devoted to service. This position will begin in August 2026.
Based on performance, this position is eligible for subsequent reappointment with the possibility of promotion tiers that includes longer-term continuing contracts.
The CSE department is one of the largest at Miami University. The department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Quantum Computing, and a new degree in Artificial Intelligence beginning in Fall 2026. Additionally, a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and several minors are available. At the graduate level, Masters degrees (thesis or course-only options) in Computer Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science are offered.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required: M.S. or M.A. in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, quantum computing, or a closely related field by date of appointment for appointment as Assistant Lecturer; or Doctorate in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, quantum computing, or a closely related field is required by date of appointment for appointment as Assistant Teaching Professor. Appointment to the rank of Associate level requires an established record of high-quality teaching and service.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Applicants from all areas of Computer Science are encouraged to apply; however, priority may be given to those with teaching experience in Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), or Cybersecurity.
