  • Are you looking to kickstart your marketing career and build a strong foundation in campaign delivery and creative production?

Kōrero mō te tūranga—About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for an Assistant, Campaigns to join the Takitoru - Communications, Marketing, and Digital Engagement group on a permanent, full-time basis.

As Assistant, Campaigns, you’ll play a key role in supporting creative, multi-channel campaigns that make a real difference—from inspiring future students to strengthening the University’s reputation.

This is a varied and exciting role with no two days the same. You’ll bring together your organisational skills, people skills, and marketing know‑how to help keep campaigns running smoothly. It’s the perfect opportunity for someone looking to kick‑start their marketing career with exposure to everything from campaign planning and workflow management to creative production and content development. This is a full-time, permanent role at the heart of one of the University’s busiest and most outward-facing portfolios.

Following a reorganisation to form an integrated team, the Takitoru - Communications, Marketing, and Digital Engagement Group will play a pivotal role in enhancing the University's reputation and supporting its strategic goals through targeted, innovative, and effective communications and marketing. This newly formed Group will foster greater collaboration, unified messaging, and enhanced creativity to engage our many audiences.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the development and coordination of multi‑channel marketing campaigns.
  • Keep campaign calendars, workflows, and deliverables organised, ensuring activity stays on track and aligned across teams.
  • Prepare and organise compelling, accessible, and audience‑focused campaign content.
  • Assist with creative production—including photoshoots, video shoots, talent coordination, and organic social content.
  • Liaise with external suppliers, agencies, and talent to support smooth and efficient campaign delivery.
  • Act as a first point of contact for general campaign and marketing queries, providing helpful and timely support.
  • Provide general administrative, financial, and organisational support to the Marketing and Digital Engagement team.

Ō pūmanawa—About you

You’ll be a proactive, organised team player who enjoys working in a fast‑moving environment. You bring strong attention to detail, great communication skills, and a friendly, confident manner when working with others. You’re comfortable juggling multiple tasks, supporting colleagues, and helping keep campaigns running smoothly. With marketing experience or a relevant qualification, you’re ready to grow your skills and build a strong foundation in campaign delivery and creative production.

Key requirements:

  • At least 2 years of work experience in a marketing role OR a relevant tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, media, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide administrative or coordination support in a busy work environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting marketing, creative, or content production processes.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms or basic digital marketing concepts.
  • Experience in a university, public sector, or similarly complex environment.
  • Understanding of accessibility, inclusivity, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in a marketing context.
