Job Description

  • Are you a social media junkie with a flair for creativity?
  • Do you feel at home in sport and fitness spaces?
  • Can you turn ideas into scroll-stopping content and smart marketing campaigns?

Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

We are looking for a digital marketing enthusiast who is results driven and customer focused to complement our Sport and Wellbeing team. This role will require excellent marketing skills and real social media know-how to continue growing engagement with students and the wider community. It will also include general marketing responsibilities alongside content creation.

Salary will be in the range of $71,275 to $84,695 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a part-time role (30 hours a week), 6 months fixed term, based on our Hillcrest Campus.

For more information on the role please see the position description here. All applications need to be submitted online via the apply here function.

For your application, instead of submitting the traditional cover letter & resume, we would like to see your creativity shine through submitting us one social-media-style asset (either a short-form video or a carousel post) that introduces you as if you were creating content for the University of Waikato Social Media Team.

Your submission should cover:

  • Who you are
  • What you do professionally
  • A bit about your personality or interests
  • Relevant work experience
  • A career highlight you’re proud of
  • Why you want to join the University of Waikato’s Social Media Team

You’ll work predominantly in the health and fitness space, looking after a range of marketing assets for UniRec, the gym on campus at the University of Waikato. As a content creator, storyteller and brand advocate, you will inspire and engage our community through your creative eye and understanding of social platforms.

You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, digital media or a related field (or equivalent experience), with a minimum of 2–3 years’ experience working in social media. Strong communication skills, platform knowledge, adobe suite experience and confidence using social media scheduling and analytics tools are essential.
