The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) is seeking to fill two part-time primary care physician faculty teaching positions.

  • One 0.30 FTE position on the Athens, Ohio campus
  • One 0.30 FTE position on the Dublin, Ohio campus

The preferred start date for both positions is January 2, 2026. For the purpose of these positions, primary care is defined as family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics.

Applicants with a strong desire to teach and advise osteopathic medical students within our curriculum and contribute to the development of the college through leadership, teaching and service are desired. Outstanding leadership, management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to a wide diversity of faculty, staff, students and community members are also highly desired.Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and perform didactic instruction for and evaluation of osteopathic medical students, including small group facilitation and clinical skills laboratory sessions, and serve as a clinical liaison/facilitator for long-distance learning
  • Serve as advisor and mentor to osteopathic medical students
  • Collaborate and participate in departmental/OU-HCOM activities
  • Serve on OU-HCOM committees as assigned

About the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine:

OU-HCOM is a leader in providing a patient-centered, clinically integrated medical education continuum, from pre-medical education to undergraduate medical education, and on through residency training, with an emphasis on primary care. Our focused research and community health programs speak to our commitment to improving health and well-being in our communities and the quality of life for our patients. As the state's only osteopathic medical school, our college was founded in 1975 and the main campus is located at Ohio University's Athens, Ohio campus. Additional campuses are located in Dublin and Cleveland, Ohio.

Mission:

We pride ourselves on our strong focus on our mission: training osteopathic primary care physicians to serve Ohio. Our medical school educates physicians committed to practice in Ohio, emphasizes primary care, engages in focused research, and embraces both Appalachian and urban communities. Integral to this mission, our college community commits itself to: providing a clinically integrated, learning-centered, osteopathic medical education continuum for students, interns, residents and primary care associates; embracing public service; and improving the health and well-being of underserved populations.

Vision:

A healthier Ohio, empowered by compassionate osteopathic physicians. With our graduates and partners, we advance care and knowledge to improve the health of our communities. Our culture is built upon resiliency, courage and compassion. Our physicians humanize each patient encounter, bridging the gap between therapeutics, medical technologies, health systems, care delivery and disparity.

Essential Values:

These fundamental principles form the foundation of the culture at our college: wholeness and balance within each person; integrity; community of mutual respect; acceptance of others; pursuit of excellence; a climate of scholarship; and commitment to service, generosity and compassion.
