Student Housing is a self-funded, large and complex campus department consisting of 6 housing communities and 3 support units, with more than 300 staff employees, 300-400 student employees and an annual operating budget of $120 million. Student Housing provides housing for approximately 9,000 undergraduates, graduate students and their families in over 250 million buildings and approximately 3.3 million sq. ft.

Currently, Student Housing houses 15% of UCI's enrolled students (in conjunction with American Campus Communities, UCI's 3rd party housing partner) with a goal of housing 60% person as part of the campus Long Range Development Plan (LRDP). Student Housing also provides custodial services to student residents.

Your Role on the Team

The Assistant Custodial Supervisor receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Instructs direct reports to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies. Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility. May perform custodial duties part of the time.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

• Working knowledge in custodial and housekeeping services.
• Verbal and written communication skills in the English language, active listening, flexibility, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and time management.
• Working knowledge of and ability for decision making, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, and perform operations analysis, and quality control analysis.
• Working knowledge and skill in effective interpersonal and work leadership skills to provide guidance to other personal.
• Basic computer application skills, including spreadsheets.
• Ability to follow, model and promote conduct that adheres to the University of California Principles of Community.
• High school diploma and / or equivalent certification / experience / training
• Maintain a valid California Driver's License.
• Bloodborne pathogens and sharps disposal training.
• Minimum 3 years custodial service.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory or general leadership experience.

Preferred:

• Ability to speak/understand Spanish.
• Experience supervising staff in a union environment.
• Knowledge of purchasing and inventory control.
• Ability to use UC applications (KFS, TRS, UCPath, ZOTPortal, UCLC).

Special Conditions:

• Available for overtime and weekend work. Work schedules are subject to change to meet department's needs. Department can require overtime work to meet operational needs. Department can operate and assign custodial shifts seven days a week.
• Must be willing and able to respond to after-hours emergencies.
• Serves as a member of the department's emergency response team.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $55,400- $62,602 (Annual).
