As a Landscape Assistant, you will:
- Maintain a high-quality landscape in assigned area, which includes but is not limited to planting, plant care and maintenance, waste and litter clean-up, and soil renovation,
- Remove snow and ice from steps, sidewalks, ramps, drives, and other areas using manual and powered equipment.
- Perform planting, weeding, fertilizing, and pest control tasks on lawns, shrubs, and trees using appropriate equipment.
- Operate and maintain equipment, tools, and machinery.
- Assist with landscape maintenance, renovations, and repairs.
- Mow lawns and prune trees and shrubs using manual and powered equipment.
- Inspect and monitor assigned areas and ensure deadlines for projects and tasks are met.
- Maintain records, forms, and work orders.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Thinking and reasoning skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Familiar with and able to operate tools and machinery.
- Able to work from a ladder and/or aerial equipment.
- Ability to frequently travel to various work areas on campus and work in all weather conditions.
- Available 24/7 for snow and ice removal emergencies.
- Ability to obtain a Nebraska Dept of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator license within six months of hire (on-the-job training and license fees are provided).
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Horticulture degree or related field, relevant coursework, or specialized training beyond high school.
- 2+ years experience in grounds keeping and/or horticultural.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) license.
Posted Salary: $16.50/hr minimum
