Position Summary:
The Assistant Dean, Clinical Curriculum Innovation will be a Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor faculty member in one of the HCOM Clinical Departments (Primary Care, OMM, or Specialty Medicine) with the majority of time with administrative responsibilities for developing and evolving innovative clinical learning pathways for the Cleveland Division of Clinical Education.
This position will have an emphasis on Years 3 and 4 of the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program, including the Transformative Care Continuum program, the Longitudinal Integrated Clinic Programs, and the development of new rotation locations within the Cleveland Clinic and other partners. The Assistant Dean will assist the campus dean in managing the strategy, development, and operations of clinical partner management, encompassing relationships, personnel, and resource deployment. Key responsibilities include advancing the Transformative Care Continuum and the Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Longitudinal programs and developing novel clinical learning experiences to optimize our partner management strategy in the region.
Primary Accountabilities:
CLINICAL EDUCATION INNOVATION:
- Under the leadership of the Cleveland Campus Dean, and in coordination with the Cleveland Division of Clinical Education, the department is responsible for providing administrative leadership to innovate, develop, and ensure our clinical education strategy aligns will continue to meet the Heritage College mission and aligns with the future direction of our clinical partners to create a sustainable environment for clinical education in the region.
- Working with the Cleveland campus dean will evolve the existing affiliations with our major educational clinical affiliates for the purpose of creating novel structures that can increase availability of clinical learning experiences, promote novel training models, and seek funding in coordination with the affiliates.
- In coordination with the Cleveland Division of Clinical Education, advance the development of partner relationships and the development of new strategic units to promote community-based rotations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships; maintain cooperative and collegial relationships with others to ensure a workplace founded on dignity and respect; champion positive inter-professional relationships with college, university, and healthcare partners; and foster positive collegial relationships amongst students, staff, and faculty.
- Remain current and knowledgeable in pertinent federal and state regulations impacting clinical medical education; maintain full working knowledge of the curriculum/personnel management software tools and their varied use within medical education.
- Workload to be negotiated annually with Department Chair and the Cleveland Campus Dean
Minimum Qualifications
- D.O or M.D.
- Valid OH medical license or credentials allowing the same
- Board certification through AOA or ABMS
- Minimum of 6 years of teaching, including administrative, supervisory, and/or program development experience in a medical school or a teaching hospital
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with programmatic (COCA) and institutional Higher Learning Commission accreditation requirements
- Strong leadership and experience in physician training within the clinical learning environment
- Thorough understanding of health systems' clinical and educational needs
- Demonstrated skill in strategic leadership in undergraduate medical education (UME) or graduate medical education (GME)

Pay Rate: Salary will be commensurate with education, experience, and rank while also considering internal equity.
