Job Description
The Assistant/Associate Dean of Clinical Relations will serve on the colleges leadership team and oversee the hybrid distributive model of clinical education that students will experience in their clinical year. The role will work with the Clinical Relations and Outreach team of the Richard A Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine to develop and manage the LMU Clinical DVM Program. The collaborative LMU Clinical DVM Program is responsible for recruiting and maintaining partners across the region to serve as clinical sites for students. The OPCVM Assistant Dean of Clinical Relations is responsible for ensure a smooth integration of the preclinical and clinical curriculum and prepare outcome measurement data to ensure the effectiveness of the clinical training. The Associate Dean for Clinical Sciences will work in conjunction with the Dean to ensure that the colleges vision, strategic direction, and priorities are implemented effectively
Required Qualifications
A DVM/VMD or equivalent degree Eligibility for licensure in Florida Veterinary clinical experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience advising pre-professional or professional students Experience in an academic setting Advanced degree in education

Job Duties
- Provide guidance and support to faculty and staff in the department, promoting professional growth and development
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to ensure the highest standards of teaching and support are maintained
- Manage departmental resources, including budget, facilities, and technology, to support the effective delivery of the professional life skills program
- Develop and implement assessments, including OSCEs to evaluate student competence in professional skills and practice management, providing feedback for continuous improvement
- Conduct research to assess the effectiveness of the professional life skills program and make recommendations for enhancements
- Maintain up-to-date records of student grades, evaluations, and performance
- Prepare examination questions that accurately assess student understanding
- Provide individualized support and coaching to students to help them develop their professional identities, communication skills, and practice management abilities
- Serve as a resource for students seeking guidance on ethical dilemmas, communications challenges, professional conduct, and practice management issues
- Foster relationships with veterinary practices and industry partners to ensure that the program meets the needs of the profession
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to identify emerging trends and best practices in professional skills development and practice management.
- Ensure compliance with the standards and guidelines of accrediting bodies such as SACS and AVMA. Participate in departmental and university committees and activities
- Develop an area of scholarship that enhances teaching and generates new knowledge. Collaborate with other faculty members on interdisciplinary research projects and grant applications
- Perform other duties as assigned.
