The University of Evansville (UE) is seeking a dynamic, creative, and student-focused Assistant Director for the Center for Career Development (CCD). This role is at the heart of our mission to prepare students for meaningful lives and successful careers. The Assistant Director delivers end-to-end career support: from helping a freshman choose a major to assisting an alum in negotiating a job offer. If you have a 'career coaching' mentality and a passion for experiential education, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Director provides comprehensive career services while fostering strategic relationships with employers and faculty. Your main duties will include:
- End-to-End Career Coaching: Meet with students and alumni to provide expert advising on résumé development, interviewing techniques, job search strategies, and graduate school applications.
- Experiential Education: Manage the ACE Pathway (Advanced Career Education) within the UE Career Bridge and encourage students to pursue internships and hands-on learning opportunities.
- Professional Clothing Closet: Oversee the new Professional Clothing Closet, including managing inventory, coordinating donations, and marketing this resource to ensure students are 'interview-ready.'
- Event & Employer Management: Plan and implement annual job fairs, foster relationships with regional and national employers, and facilitate on-campus recruiting activities.
- Content & Digital Strategy: Coordinate the annual publication of The Next Step: A Guide for Career Development and manage the CCD’s social media platforms and website content.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Supervise student employees, provide training for paraprofessional programs, and represent the CCD on University committees and within the Evansville community.
- Data & Analytics: Collect, analyze, and report on student outcomes and career trends to inform future programming and institutional goals.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of professional experience in Career Development, Human Resources, or a closely related field.
- Skills: Superior communication and advising talents; knowledge of web-based job search databases (e.g., Handshake, Simplicity) and business software.
- Attributes: You must be coachable with a strong career coaching mentality. We value a sense of humor, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a flexible, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: A Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with regional and national career trends and experience with social media marketing.
