"Assistant Director, Early Childhood Mental Health Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC)"

The NYU McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research is committed to creating new knowledge about the root causes of poverty, developing evidence-based interventions to address its consequences, and rapidly translating research findings into action through policy and best practices.

We are looking to hire a talented and motivated individual to serve as a full time Assistant Director for Early Childhood Mental Health Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC). Reporting to the Director of Healthcare Innovation, and working in collaboration with the TTAC team, the Assistant Director for TTAC will be primarily responsible for leading the design, management and coordination of a new 3-year Clinical Fellowship Program implemented by the Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC).

TTAC is a NYC Health Department-funded technical assistance center dedicated to expanding New York’s capacity to promote positive mental health in early childhood and the perinatal period. As part of this role, they will oversee a new fellowship program that will train graduate students in the integrated clinical competencies needed to support families with children from birth to five years and pregnant/postpartum individuals, including families in the child welfare system. This role oversees the development, implementation, and delivery of training, education, consultation, and technical assistance to fellows, while serving as the primary liaison to graduate schools, funders and internal/external partners.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, coordination and implementation of the Fellowship program.
• Collaborate with TTAC leadership to develop training curricula and a supervision framework that are grounded in effective adult learning practices and meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Facilitate planning and problem-solving with internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee data tracking systems; monitor and report on deliverables and fellows' progress and use evaluation findings to continuously improve curricula and delivery methods.
• Build and maintain relationships with Graduate Social Work/Mental Health Counseling Programs and other key stakeholders, including the licensed mental health clinics in which fellows will provide services
• Recruit applicants for the fellowship and develop and oversee an equitable application process.
• Collaborate with administrative support to coordinate logistics for meetings and events (e.g., scheduling, materials prep, conference setup).
• Provide general administrative support, including editing presentations and managing training materials.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Social Work or related field, with expertise in perinatal and/or early childhood mental health.
• Minimum 3 years of experience managing programs, teams, or large-scale projects.
• Experience working with or within local or state government systems.
• Trained in reflective practice, including providing and receiving reflective supervision.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong foundational knowledge of perinatal, infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH), including a multisystem, cultural, and developmental perspective.
• Experience in fellowship, training or academic program administration
• Clinical expertise in issues affecting young children in the child welfare system (e.g., attachment, trauma, intergenerational trauma, evidence-based interventions).
• Familiarity with the NYC child welfare system, Family Courts, ACS Preventive/Foster Care services, and related service systems (EI, CPSE, housing, etc.).
• Awareness of current child welfare reform efforts, particularly those emphasizing prevention.
• Knowledge of graduate social work/mental health counseling education and MHC/MSW program structures.
• Data analytic skills and reporting.

• Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead collaborative teams.
• Excellent communication, writing, and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, and Webex.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Resilient and adaptable in high-pressure or changing environments

Salary

This position is full-time and includes a generous benefits package. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $95,000 – $109,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

• NYU McSilver is currently operating on a hybrid schedule of 3-days a week in-person.
• This is a grant funded position with the opportunity for ongoing renewal reviewed on an annual basis.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship including STEM OPT extension. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment.
