Job Summary
This position plays a strategic role in strengthening the Gies College of Business employer engagement. The role's primary responsibility is to facilitate benchmarking career-related industry knowledge at Gies. The Assistant Director will facilitate data collection and analysis, focusing on employer industry recruiting insights and workforce skill demand trends. This position works independently and collaboratively to streamline strategic data gathering and analysis with the rest of the employer engagement, career education and career advising functions within CPD to facilitate any service enhancement. This role contributes to a high-quality, holistic, and forward-thinking employer engagement that supports students' success.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employer Engagement and Program Collaboration
- Support the planning and execution of the Gies Business Career Fair, Gies Showcases, other Employer/Recruiting events and on-campus interview cycles.
- Organize and participate in site visits, including campus, local, and regional employers, for team development and training.
- Establish relationships with employers to increase the diversity and quality of recruiters at the university. Identify opportunities to connect employers with co-curricular initiatives within CPD.
- Recruit and manage companies' employer engagement activities participation, such as Recruiter Summit, Gies Business Career Fair, Gies Showcases, and Career Discovery Program.
- Identify employer participation that is tailored to student populations and major/role/industry goals to maximize participation and outcomes in CPD programs.
- Represent the Employer Engagement team at Gies and in campus-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects, such as the Gies Corporate Council and Career Services Council.
Recruiting Insight Collection and Analysis
- Contribute to both employer and student outcomes data collection, annual reports, and other assessment activities related to recruiting activity.
- Manage, monitor and analyze early career recruiting information and trends from existing CRM systems such as Salesforce, Handshake and Asana.
- Track the job market demand and trends in various academic majors. Create sector-specific strategy briefs (e.g., Consulting, CPG, Tech) for employer engagement and informing employer and career-related event planning and advising.
- Facilitate employer insight survey design; analyze different data sources and create comprehensive career-focused reports; and communicate key insights to the CPD team.
- Partner with the Director and Associate Director to implement and maintain best practices in employer engagement and CPD service delivery.
Internal Training
- Facilitate or lead knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance CPD staff understanding of employer expectations, industry changes, and recruiting cycles, and evolving hiring processes.
- Participate in and lead student workshops or programs as needed.
Projects
Facilitate or Lead special projects and initiatives to support the CPD team
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
A total of three (3) years (36 months) in education, training and/or work experience in career services, employer engagement, recruiting, or event planning.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education, or with early-career recruiting programs or corporate engagement roles.
Master's degree in student affairs, counseling, human resource management, public relations, business, or a related discipline.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search close date. The salary range for this position is $60,000 -$68,000 annually. Employees hired into this position will be expected to work on-site at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus with opportunity for flexibility. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
