Position Purpose: The Assistant Director will oversee the Center's community-based experiential education initiatives focused on developing the next generation of social impact leaders. This role involves serving as a member of the Dartmouth Center for Social Impact's (DCSI) strategic leadership team; management of the Center's internship, social impact career, and leadership development programs; and leadership of Center-wide communications. This position requires a candidate with deep commitment to, and knowledge of, the social sector, a collaborative work style, communications experience or a willingness to learn, excellent execution and program oversight skills, and the capacity to serve as an inspiring role model and mentor to Dartmouth students.
Description: The Dartmouth Center for Social Impact seeks an individual with a passion for social impact, an ability to collaborate across various stakeholder groups, and the desire to create best in class programming to serve as Assistant Director for the Social Sector Leadership initiatives.
Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp: Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Seven (7)+ year's work experience in the social sector and higher education.
- Demonstrated expertise in the social sector.
- Previous experience with communications to a variety of stakeholders, including social media, or willingness to learn.
- Supervision and team management success.
- Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
- Exceptional teaching and facilitation skills and the ability to excite, inspire, engage and manage undergraduate students and student groups.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with experience communicating across multiple stakeholder groups (faculty, community partners, students, parents, administrators, etc.)
- Experience with event coordination and project oversight.
- Proficient with computer applications (Word, Excel, database management, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Knowledge of community-driven experiential learning and the best practices therein.
- Demonstrated ability to build and cultivate relationships with different stakeholders (students, community partners, staff, etc.).
- Strong self-awareness, interpersonal and collaborative abilities; demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Program Leadership (40%): Directs a portfolio of social impact programming focused on social sector careers and leadership. This includes setting portfolio strategy and outcomes in alignment with Center goals, and overseeing the development of educational curriculum, community and cross-sector partnerships, budgets, logistics, risk management, and assessment. Manages and administers processes and workflows for portfolio's team and supervises professional and student employees.
External relations/ Marketing/Communications (30%): Directs DCSI communications strategy across various platforms and stakeholders. Sets strategy in consultation with leadership team, creates plans for implementation, and supervises content creation and execution.
Alumni and Campus Liaison (15%): Assists the director in developing and stewarding relationships with alumni and campus partners in support of Center objectives. Serves as Center liaison to two several program-centered alumni advisory boards. Serves as an ambassador of the Center both on and off campus.
Center Leadership (10%): As a member of the Center's leadership team, assists the director in setting Center strategy and priorities in alignment of DCSI and institutional missions and helps ensure alignment of programming with Center mission and learning objectives.
Student Advising and Training (5%): Advises students within programs, provides advising to students seeking general social impact information, develops and executes workshops and trainings as part of DCSI's programming.
Demonstrates professionalism and collegiality through actions, interactions, and communications with others appropriate to an environment that is welcoming to all. Performs other duties as assigned.
