Assistant Director of Alumni Relations
Position Overview
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) exempt, regular, benefit-eligible staff position. Some travel, as well as evening and weekend work, is required.
This staff member is a full-time member of the Alumni Relations staff, responsible for alumni relations, volunteer management, and support of the overall mission and activities of the office.
The mission of the Alumni Relations Office is to reconnect alumni with each other and the College and to encourage and support useful and active stewardship of all alumni.
Compensation
The expected starting salary for this role is $66,700.00- $68,900.00. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
Relationship Management
- Recruit, train, motivate, and facilitate planning for up to four class reunion volunteer committees.
- Collaboration with Alumni Annual Fund staff to coordinate reunion committee meetings and potential mini-reunions, in-person gatherings for volunteer teams, virtual class gatherings, and more.
- Assist with planning and implementation of the annual reunion volunteer workshop.
- Coordinate and assist with reunion weekend programs and communications.
Program Management
- Facilitate ‘C’ Club board engagement.
- Coordinate and provide strategic leadership to help carry out ‘C’ Club priorities, meetings, and activities for engaging varsity athlete alumni.
- Coordinate communication and activities between the board, other alumni volunteer leaders, and appropriate offices at the College.
- Recruit, train, support, and recognize ‘C’ Club volunteers and work with volunteers to set and achieve vision and goals.
- Oversee athletic alumni communications and programs.
In addition to the primary responsibilities outlined above, we will utilize the strengths and interests of this staff member in ways that support our mission and needs.
Education/Experience/Skills
Required:
- B.A. degree.
- Two to four years of volunteer management or similar experience.
- Have an appreciation for the educational experience a small residential college provides.
- Candidates must have a genuine interest in working with alumni volunteers and an appreciation for liberal arts education and the importance of the College’s relationship with its constituencies.
- Interest in thinking creatively and strategically about how engagement with an organization intersects with philanthropy and volunteerism.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the judgment and discretion to handle confidential or sensitive matters.
- Highly organized.
- Ability to adapt to various communication and work styles.
- Team-oriented and collaborative.
- Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equity, with openness to diverse voices and perspectives. Attentiveness to inclusive recruitment and communications practices.
- Ability to travel; some evening and weekend work required.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in relationship or account management, volunteer management, or comparable experience.
- Comfort with a range of technical tools and programs is a plus.
- Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and priorities.
