Job Description
The Assistant Director is a full-time professional staff member in the Division of Academic Affairs and reports to the Director of Career Success. Career Success provides education and services for approximately 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Arts & Sciences, the School of Business Administration, and the School of Music, as well as alumni from each of these programs. Our team consists of six full-time staff members, including five professional staff members and one administrative specialist. Part-time staff include two Graduate Assistants, two Office Assistants, four Career Peers, and a Marketing Assistant.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide coaching and advising to students across the three Colleges and Schools
- Develop and implement programming to increase students' awareness of internship opportunities and facilitate their professional development in preparation for internship experiences
- Serve as a resource for employers interested in hiring students for internship positions and conduct employer outreach to increase the number of internship opportunities available
- Deliver career advising to students and alumni seeking to explore majors/careers, internship opportunities, and job search support
- Support Stetson's efforts around certifications, not limited to assisting in the selection of new certifications, partnering with providers, facilitating student experiences, and reporting outcomes
- Actively support career events and initiatives such as Internship and Career Expos, Employer Takeovers, and other career programs
- Supervise the Coordinator of Career Success
- Lead relationships with external software vendors, including optimizing platforms/tools and requests for updates/issue maintenance
- Deliver presentations and workshops to various constituents about career development and opportunities
- Partner with the Associate Director to lead conversations with employers on building and promoting internship opportunities for students
- Provide support to academic departments interested in increasing their students' participation in internships
- Collaborate with department chairs and faculty internship instructors to serve as a resource for best practices in the supervision of students participating in academic internship courses
- Collaborate with the Registrar, IT, and academic departments on the undergraduate academic internship registration process
- Collect and maintain data on students participating in internships and create reports for stakeholders
- Implement marketing and social media strategies/content to promote Career Success to internal and external audiences in partnership with the Director of Career Success
- Develop, market, and implement engaging programming to facilitate students' participation in internships and career initiatives
- Administer multiple funds to support students' participation in internships, including marketing, awarding, and disbursing the funds in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Planning and the Office of Development and Alumni Engagement
- Collaborate with the WORLD International Learning Center to provide support for international students participating in internship experiences
- Represent the University and Career Success on appropriate university committees at meetings and functions
- Perform other position-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications: This position requires:
- A Bachelor's degree relevant to the position
- Two or more years of experience in people or talent development
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or a closely related field
- Professional experience in higher education
Pay Grade: 6
Work authorization sponsorship may be available for this position. However, sponsorship is contingent upon the non-applicability of the visa petition fees outlined in the relevant Executive Order signed September 19, 2025. Due to the recent federally-mandated increased financial expense, the university is not in a position to absorb this significantly increased cost of sponsorship for new H-1B petitions at this time.
